Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has continuously called on the DCI and EACC to make public names of those behind Josephine Kabura’s affidavit in the first NYS corruption scandal.
Waiguru has allegedly written six letters to Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and a second letter to the Director of the Public Prosecution requesting them to make public the findings of the Kabura affidavit.
She claims that a period of three years has lapsed and Kenyans have not received any official communication yet.
“We refer to the above matter (Investigation into the affidavit sworn by Josephine Kabura) and to the Commission’s letter dated 1st October 2018, a copy of which is enclosed for your ease of reference,” reads part of the letter.
“We trust that the investigation of the affidavit sworn by Josephine Kabura have now been finalized and the number of issues raised by the Director of the Public Prosecution have been addressed.
“We would be grateful to know the outcome of the investigation as the delay to bring this long standing matter to a close on the part of the commission has caused our client irrepaable damage and lent credence to the false accusations,” concludes the letter signed by Waiguru’s lawyer Mansur Issa.
In August this year, Waiguru had written to EACC CEO Halaqhe Waqo demanding that the anti-corruption agency make public findings of investigations into Kabura’s affidavit.
Taking to social media, Waiguru revealed her frustrations over what she termed as Kabura’s lies explaining that it had been three years since the case was mentioned.
“My 6th letter to EACC and 2nd to DPP requesting them to make public the findings of the Kabura affidavit. 3 years have lapsed.
“Who was behind Kabura lies; Who wrote the affidavit; who distributed it; and why? To whom did the Kabura money actually go? Any action being taken?” posted the governor.
In court papers at the time, Kabura revealed that Waiguru introduced her to doing business with NYS and even helped her register the companies used in the dubious dealings.
Kabura further claimed that the former CS held an urgent meeting at her Runda home when reports emerged that Central Bank (CBK) was questioning huge payouts at NYS.
However, the former Minister denied the claims by Kabura, saying that she lived at Kitusuru in August 2015 and not Runda.
