Aluoch Olago: One of Wealthiest Yet Silent Leaders

Kisumu West MP John Olago Aluoch is deemed as one of the wealthiest yet silent leaders from Luo Nyanza region. He is the actual owner of Maboko island in Lake Victoria.

The estimated value of the island is over Ksh 500 Million, an amount that the Olago termed as being conservative in his interview with Yvonne Aoll sometime back.

Maboko, which is also known as Camp Tom Island measures around 5 acres and is located offshore the Seme area. Seme is about an hour and a half drive from Kisumu City.

Maboko has a main block with three selt-contained suites that are fully furnished.

Maboko has a helipad at the centre for the helicopters commuting to and from the island.

Typically, the mode of transport often involves the use of a powerboat.

According to reports, the Member of Parliament every now and then likes to steer the powerboat himself while heading to the island with friends or family.

Fantastically, he remain one of Kenya politicians who are regarded wealthy but unknown to many and do not show an impression of having all that amount.

However, Olago is famous for making hard stand. For instance, in more than one occassion, he has been at loggerheads with the Luo kingpin Raila Odinga and still succeeded politically.

He has managed to defend his seat twice using Ford Kenya party.
