SRC Takes Nairobi County Workers to Court over salary increment

Striking Nairobi county workers have been taken to court by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) over their continued industrial action.

Kenya County Government Workers Union secretary Benson Olianga mentioned that the union had received a letter from SRC to have them appear before Labour Court on Monday.

Olianga expressed his amusement over SRC’s move to take them to court.

He stated: “As a union, we don’t understand it. Currently, there is no case and the reason why SRC has taken us to court is not clear.

“As a union, we will go to the court because we want to hear what the SRC says. This is new because I have never heard of an intended interested party in a non-existent case,” Olianga noted.
The union’s secretary went ahead to reveal that the case will be heard by Labour Relations Court, Justice Maureen Onyango.
