LSK weighs in on colleague’s murder

LSK President Allen Gichuhi

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) in a statement on Monday called upon Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet as well as the country’s security agencies to expedite investigations into the killing of fellow lawyer Robert Chesang.

“Preliminary reports reaching us indicate that Mr. Chesang was home alone at the time of the incident and may have been tortured first then later dragged from his bedroom to the living room before being shot seven times in cold blood,” read the statement signed by LSK President Allen Gichuhi.

The lawyers have condemned the murder, which they further said reminded them of similar extra-judicial killings on former legal practitioners.

“This incident reminds us of colleagues who have lost their lives in the hands of unknown assailants and are yet to get justice,” added the statement.

The lawyers were weighing in on the murder of advocate Robert Chesang at his house in Lukenya area, Machakos County on Sunday, where the murderers attacked him in his home in broad daylight, shooting him and leaving his body in his living room.
