It appears Manchester United have finally run out of patience with Romelu Lukaku after his nightmare of a season and now they are set to offload him in the summer as they attempt to fund some huge transfer moves. Lukaku has looked a shadow of his former self since joining the club from Everton for £75m and the club have seen little return on that enormous investment.

Now, despite not knowing who the permanent manager will be in the summer, the club are ready to get rid of him in a desperate attempt to bring in one of two Serie A stars. According to The Mirror, the club have already begun talks with two of the biggest names in Italian football, Paulo Dybala and Mauro Icardi.

Icardi has been in the news recently having been stripped of the Inter Milan captaincy and left out of their Europa League squad in midweek as they beat Rapid Wien away from home.

This is all down to an ongoing contract dispute but it could have pushed the Argentine closer to the exit door and United could pounce on this difficult situation the Italian giants find themselves in. They are back in action against Sampdoria today and it will be intriguing to see if he is reinstated into the matchday squad.

Meanwhile, Paulo Dybala, although impressing in the last match, has found it difficult to nail down his place in the Juventus side this season, with the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo pushing him down the pecking order. Ronaldo is clearly the main man and boss Massimo Allegri has been trying to work out which system suits the Portuguese goalscorer best, trying him alongside Mario Mandzukic and Douglas Costa for a large part of the season.

Dybala, whose talents allow him to flourish in the number ten position has struggling to find his place in the team although the diamond formation they played against Frosinone seemed to get the best out of him and Cristiano Ronaldo. United would have to work hard to secure his signature but Romelu Lukaku is thought to prefer a move to Juventus over anywhere else, meaning this deal could be a possibility if United submit a cash plus player offer.

Neither of these players will come cheap but it is clear that the Red Devils are not wanting to mess about in this transfer market, as they look to re-establish themselves as one of England’s and Europe’s elite clubs.
