Members Angry with LSK President Allen Gichuhi, Seeks to Oust Him from Office

Members of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Nairobi region have advocated for the removal of LSK President Allen Gichuhi from office.

Through their representative Akusala A. Boniface, the members accuse Gichuhi of mismanagement of council, abuse of office and non-compliance with the council charter.

The LSK president is also accused of allowing personal prejudices to interfere with the proper running of council, advancing interests of external forces as opposed to those of Members of LSK and single-handedly overruling the decision of Council and imposing his own.

In a memo issued to the Society’s Chief Executive Officer, the members asked a motion be passed to remove Gichuhi as LSK President during the council’s next meeting scheduled for February 18.

As a result, the members moved that the Vice President should resume the office as the acting president.

“Please include this motion in the meeting slated for 18th February, 2019… That by a Resolution of Council, Mr Allen Gichuhi be removed from the position of President. That in the interim the Vice President to act as President,” reads the memo in part.

Allen Gichuhi was elected the LSK president on February 22, 2018, taking it over from the former president Isaac Okero, who leas the council for four years.

He was declared the winner after beating his main competitor James Mwamu by 2675 votes against 2145.
