Dennis Kitambi, who was the former AFC Leopards interim coach officially joined Dar giant Simba SC as an assistant to Patrick Aussems on Friday 15.

Kitambi took over Leopards from Robert Matano and later left Leopards in May 2018 for a short reunion with his mentor Stewart Hall at Saif Sporting Club of Bangladesh.

Recently, he was offered a chance to return to the den, according to reports, but turned it down, instead choosing to go back to his native Tanzania for the Simba job.

Kitambi was an assistant to Hall at Azam FC when they won the Cecafa Kagame Cup for the first time in 2015 against Gor Mahia.

Former AFC interim manager managed to secure four wins, four draws and two losses for the leopards.

Fans and players endeared him for the attractive brand of football and humorous post-match interviews he showed.

During his departure, Leopards were fifth on the table, just six points away from the league leaders, which saw him named coach of the month of March.

His next biggest task will be this weekends fiercely contested Kariakor derby between his Simba FC and Yanga at Uhuru stadium for three crucial points and of course the bragging rights.

Simba heads to the game with a recent win over Al Ahly in the Caf Champions League and is the favourite to win this particular match.
