Departed Sala set to be buried

The body of Emiliano Sala arrived in Argentina on Friday ahead of this weekend’s funeral in his hometown of Progreso, around 538km northwest of the capital Bueno Aires.

The record Cardiff City signing died last month just two days after completing a £15million move from Ligue 1 club Nantes.

A single-engine aircraft Sala and pilot David Ibbotson were travelling in crashed-landed in the English Channel on January 21 and his body recovered after a private search on February 6.

Mr. Ibbotson remains missing.

A vigil will be held at Sala’s boyhood club San Martin de Progreso where he played until he was 15.

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock and Chief Executive Ken Choo will both attend the funeral while Nantes will be represented by defender Nicolas Pallois and general secretary Loic Morin.
