Solskjaer Drops Major Hint That New Deals For Key Man Utd Duo Are Close

Manchester United caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that the club are closing in on tying more key players down to new deals.

The Red Devils face a tough week of fixtures ahead, with a trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the FA Cup before Liverpool visit Old Trafford next weekend.

A report from the Daily Mail on Friday suggested that United want to tie star players David De Gea and Marcus Rashford down to new deals, something Solskjaer hinted that the club is working on.

“I haven’t got any news from before but they are working on a few of the players and hopefully we can announce that,” he told reporters at his pre-Chelsea presser.

Solskjaer then discussed his relationship with director Ed Woodward, insisting that they are in regular contact.

“We speak almost daily, if we don’t speak we keep in touch by all these gadgets nowadays but it’s nice to hear those words but now it’s onto the next game.”

The Norwegian paid tribute to Eric Harrison, an influential coach at the club who passed away during the week.

“Eric’s been an influential part of this club and of course with his passion for the club and how we played football, fantastic man, never had him as a coach myself but spoke to him many may times, so passionate, sad day but his legacy will always be remembered.

“Class of ‘92, what he’s done with them, for them, when you speak to all the lads, Mark Dempsey had him and he’s spoken so highly about how he was as a coach and brought the values into them on the pitch.”
