Seven people have perished in a grisly accident in Chepsir few kilometers from Kericho Town after a Nissan Matatu belonging to South rift Sacco they were travelling in was involved in a road accident on the Kericho-Nakuru highway.

According to eye witnesses, the Nissan Matatu collided head on with a petrol tanker at the Kapmakaa area in Chepsir. Six people are said to have died on the spot while the rest succumbed to injuries while being rushed to hospital.
Kericho Base Commander Michael Kahare confirmed the deaths in the preliminary report. The accident occurred around 6:30PM.
