A woman and her child have died on the spot after the vehicle they were travelling in was hit by a truck along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
The accident occurred after the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle following a tyre burst.
According to Kibwezi Assistant County Commissioner Vitalis Ogur, “A truck had a tyre burst before the driver lost control of the vehicle and hitting the private car from behind.”
The driver to the woman and child survived, sustaining serious injuries.
The truck driver was on the other hand not injured.
The two bodies were collected and taken to Makindu hospital mortuary.
Mr Ogur called on truck drivers to be vigilant and assist in avoiding accidents that can be controlled through driving carefully.
