The German has been left out in recent months and has now missed more games than he has played under Emery this season.

Ozil was not included in Arsenal‘s Europa League squad on Thursday evening before the Gunners were beaten 1-0 by Belarusian side BATE Borisov.

But before the clash, the midfielder was sent a message on Instagram, which he subsequently ‘liked’, hinting his relationship with Emery is not a happy one.

“We miss you bro. Keep fighting and stay strong. Show Emery, dumb pundits and the whole world they are wrong,” said one Ozil fan.

But fans aren’t happy with the German after his Instagram activity.

“So Mesut Ozil is now liking posts on Instagram that undermine the head coach @UnaiEmery_ – This is a battle you will not win, Mesut,” one said.

“That attitude is probably why he doesn’t play,” one wrote.

Arsenal fans are right to be sceptical regarding the German’s future.

And pundits are also baffled by the current situation in north London.

“It’s becoming a bit of a comedy sketch at the moment,” Premier League legend Andy Cole told Sky Sports this week.

“We know how talented he is.

“The manager has decided maybe he doesn’t want him in the team, he doesn’t work hard enough or whatever, but sometimes when you have that luxury, I think some of the boys in the team would be prepared to work a little bit harder to get him on the ball to produce that magic.”

“It’s not the Mesut Ozil show – it’s Arsenal football club. Not one player is bigger than the club,” another said.
