Manchester United legend thinks Arsenal-Ozil situation is a comedy

Former Manchester United forward Andrew Cole has described Mesut Ozil’s situation at Arsenal as a ‘comedy.’

Ozil was omitted from the squad that travelled to Belarus to play Bate  Borisov even after Unai Emery had confirmed that the German was fit for action before.

Arsenal lost the match and Ozil tweeted a message of support to his teammate s after the fall and Cole says that Emery is to blame for not playing Ozil, who he says is the best player in the current Gunner’s squad.

“It’s becoming a bit of a comedy sketch at the moment. We know how talented he is. The manager has decided maybe he doesn’t want him in the team, he doesn’t work hard enough or whatever, but sometimes when you have that luxury, I think some of the boys in the team would be prepared to work a little bit harder to get him on the ball to produce that magic.” Cole told The Debate.

“Arsenal over the previous years, when Wenger was there, did that. You’ve got to play your best players when you need them, and Ozil is one of Arsenal’s best. If you asked Lacazette and Aubameyang: ‘Do you want Mesut to play?’ they’d say yes all day long, all day long! It’s really, really strange,” Cole added.

Arsenal will have some not easy task when they play the Belarusian side in the second leg of Europa League round of 16 at Emirates after the fall away from home.
