After the full-time whistle in Chelsea’s 1-2 win over Malmo in the UEFA Europa League, Eden Hazard was accosted a pitch-invader but the Belgian brushed the incident off noting that the fan only wanted his shirt.
At least four fans invaded the pitch from the home fans stands with one managing to go all the way to accost Hazard. The culprit’s grip was released only when the Belgium forward handed over his shirt and UEFA are likely to investigate.
Ross Barkley opened the scoring for Chelsea at the stroke of the half mark while Olivier Giroud doubled their lead in the 58th minute. Anders Christiansen halved Chelsea’s lead 10 minutes from time to hand them a chance heading into the second leg.
The Belgian has dismissed suggestions he was uncomfortable when the fan wouldn’t let go of him, “It’s not an incident. He just asked for my shirt.” According to the report, UEFA will launch an investigation into how the supporters made it on to the field. They will also look at how the fans brought flares into the stadium and incidents that saw bottles thrown between the home and away sections of the seating.
