A polytechnic student from Nyeri is in police custody following an explosive scare.
The Nyeri Polytechnic student was arrested near Dedan Kimathi University on suspicion of wearing explosives.
Confirming the incident, Nyeri County Commissioner Fredrick Shisia, said the suspect had gadgets that appeared to be explosives on his body from the waist up.
He also confirmed that the bomb squad who responded found the gadgets to be harmless.
Shisia said that the gadgets were found to be body toners, adding that the arrest was as a result of intensified police vigilance in the fight against terror.
The identity of the student who is still in custody however has not been disclosed.
