Court Sentenced Four Men in Jail for 25 Years Over Murder in Homa Bay

A court on Thursday 14 sentenced four men to 25 years in jail each after they were found guilty of killing a man at Kakuwa Village in Ndhiwa Constituency, Homa Bay County.

Emmanuel Odhiambo, Justo Odhiambo, Preston Ayayo and Peter Ochieng’ were charged that on January 23, 2015 they raided Charles Juma’s house where they attacked before killing him.

The court was told that on the material day at around midnight, the four accused persons and others not before the court raided the home of Juma and demanded for a matchbox while his family had already slept.

The family raised an alarm during the attack but nobody came to their rescue, with the accused continuing to beat Mr. Juma to a pulp causing him injuries that led to his death.

The High Court Judge Joseph Karanja said he was satisfied with the submitted evidence, rendering the four accused men a 25-year jail term each in Homa Bay GK Prison.

The accused were given 14 days to appeal the ruling after they pleaded with the court for leniency stating that they have children and families that entirely depend on them.
