BATE Borisov Celebrate Beating Arsenal In The Europa League In The Best Way Possible

The Borisov players – including former Arsenal man Aleksandr Hleb – were spotted at Minsk airport after the 1-0 Europa League win.

And they were seen tucking into cheeseburgers, Whoppers and probably some mozzarella sticks.

Telegraph reporter Sam Dean tweeted: “How do BATE Borisov’s players celebrate their historic win over Arsenal?

“Burger King at Minsk airport, of course. Aleksandr Hleb currently tucking into a Belarusian whopper for breakfast. Remarkable.”

And Football London’s Arsenal correspondent Charles Watts wrote: “Nothing rubs salt into the wounds more than sitting next to Alex Hleb and the BATE team while they celebrate beating Arsenal by wolfing down a Double Whopper meal at 8am.”

It was an historic night for Bate, who overcame Arsenal thanks to a Stanislav Dragun header on the stroke of half time, for their first win over an English side.

Alexandre Lacazette was sent off for swinging an elbow as a strong Arsenal side were stunned in Belarus at sub-zero temperatures.

The Gunners have it all to do next week week in the second leg but will still be confident of progress.

The Europa League could be Arsenal’s best route into next season’s Champions League with Manchester United in such good form in the league.

Arsenal are fifth in the Premier League and missing out on the top competition for another year could have huge financial ramifications.

They were restricted to only loan signings in January and could feel the burn of missing out on the millions of prize money again.

“We deserved to win but did not get the result. They were very organised,” Emery said.

“The first half was a good performance, we had chances to score. Defensively when they were 1-0 up they were organised and competitive.

“We play another 90 minutes next week and I am sure it’s going to be different. Our big opportunity is next week at home, I trust in our players and in our stadium with our supporters.”
