Women accused of spiking man’s drink and stealing his 1.9M in Lang’ata

Joyce Britney and Florence Wangare were charged that on January 17, 2019 they administered a stupefying chemical substance known as Rohypnol on Fredrick Omondi Okati in Lang’ata, Nairobi, with an intent to steal from him.

The court heard that the two women also unlawfully transferred Ksh.1,940,000 from Mr. Okati’s Stanbic Bank account into several accounts held at Equity Bank, Family Bank and M-Pesa accounts.

Britney, who was busted with a pack containing 7 one-miligram tablets of Rohypnol, was also said to have stolen Mr. Omondi’s mobile phone and ATM card all valued at Ksh.23,000.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi on Wednesday, the two were released on bond.

Britney was released on a bond of Ksh.1 million with alternative cash bail of Ksh.300,000 while Florence was released on a bond of Ksh.500,000 with alternative cash bail of Ksh.200,000.
