The calls for referendum are looming from each and every corner. The Presidency being the key for pushing for this agenda.
Most legislatures in recent times have have been vocal about the debate that dictates that the “winner takes it all.” This is in line with the current constitution. The Presidency position stands out as the supreme position which each and every politician is craving for.
Young Parliamentarians have a different suggestion on how to make sure that Presidency stands out to be efficient and that is not the cause of division. Led by Saboti member of Parliament Caleb Khamisi, the leaders are proposing a new structure.
According to the young Parliamentarians the Presidency should be one term affair with seven years of serving. They are argue out that this will help in curbing election related violence. Also with their suggestion the office of the Premier will not be created.
This suggestion is similar to what ODM party had earlier suggested in the call for referendum.
Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka also suggested the extension of the Presidential term limit which he came out to also retrieve the statement. But he suggested the formation of the office of the Premier .
