Of the six suspects believe to be connected to the death of Caroline Mwatha Ochieng, one of them was jailed for having been connected to the Deya Baby Miracles Scam in 2005!
The suspect in question, Betty Akinyi Nyanya, or famously known as Betty Ramoya, was one of the managers at the clinic Gatheca Estate Nursing Maternity Home.
She admitted in front of the court that she was part of the group hired by Mrs Mary Juma Deya in 2005 to register ‘miracle baby’ births

Served at Lang’ata Prison
In 2005, Betty Akinyi was found guilty of participating in the sham and served her sentence at The Lang’ata Women’s Prison.
Nonetheless, on Wednesday, she was one of the six suspects arraigned at a Madaraka Court for questioning over the mysterious death of Caroline Mwatha.
The other suspects tied to the murder include George Achieng’ Tabitha, Stephen Maina, Alexander Gitau Gikonyo, Alexander Gitau, Richard Ramoya Abudo, and Michael Onchiri.
According to reports by police boss George Kinoti, it is believed that Ms Mwatha had gone to procure an abortion from Betty Akinyi Nyanya, who is the owner of the said clinic.
Mr.Kinoti divulged that investigators unearthed that Caroline passed away while at the clinic, then her body was transferred at 4.42 am to the Nairobi City Mortuary on February 7.
Kinoti revealed that this was the information present from the records at the City Mortuary.
However, what has puzzled many is why the name of the deceased was registered as Caroline Mbeki instead of Caroline Mwatha?
Kinoti also revealed that records from the morgue show that the motor vehicle that brought the body of Caroline Mwatha to the mortuary was registered under the number plate KBP 677B.
Nevertheless, investigations are still underway to uncover the subtle details behind Caroline’s death.
