Nairobi’s Less Fortunate Kids Given Special Valentine’s Day Treat By Cafe Deli!

For Cafe Deli, Valentine’s is more than just about dates and having a good time. It carries meaning and ensures that love is spread to all and sundry, especially the less fortunate.

Hence, the cafe today marked the auspicious day by preparing a hearty breakfast for less fortunate children from the Vessels of Hope Kayole.

The children could not hide their excitement as they were treated to scrumptious meals fit for a king.

In fact, the cutlery alone fascinated some of the kids, who had never dined using such expensive plates and glasses.

According to the owner of the restaurant, Mr Obadoh, he extended the fine gesture for the following reason:

“I love children because my father left me with 13 of my siblings to take care of when he died. Children have a place in my heart and I always try to do small gestures to put a smile on their faces”

Special treat for the Orphans

The Vessel of Hope Centre based in Kayole by Mrs Grace Omingo was started in 2008 and is focused on providing informal education impoverished children.

As a matter of fact, Mrs Omingo contributed the only piece of land that she has for the construction of the school.

Additionally, she received funding for the school thanks to assistance from a couple of friends based in the United States.

Currently, the school caters to the education of 87 children, with half of them being orphans.

Challenges Faced

Nevertheless, the home has had its share of challenges along the way but have overcome the struggles to ensure that children are adequately fed and clothed.

In compelling rags to riches story, Mr Obado grew up selling Omena, cigarettes and chang’aa so as to raise money for school fees!
