Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has today revealed his plan to improve Nairobi drainage systems. His plan comes at a time where the country is approaching the rainy season.
Sonko revealed that the Nairobi City County Government has already started unclogging the drainage system, even as they put in place measures to mitigate effects of the heavy rains.
“My county government will also deploy flusher machines for unclogging the drainage systems.”he said in his post update
Sonko also said that Nairobi City County Government officials intensified the unclogging of canals in all 85 Wards in the city in order to improve the flow of water and holding capacity of waterways and the drainage systems.
During the rainy season, Kenyans at times complain of the poor state of roads and even the poor drainage that poses a risk of outbreak of diseases.
Sonko has however assured Nairobians that they have the matter in control.
Apart from this project that will ensure that Nairobi has a good drainage system, Sonko has also made sure that more roads have been constructed under his administration.
Sonko’s administration has in the past one year seen the completion and flagship of various projects in the Roads, Transport and Public Works sector in the county.
Among the completed projects are more than 15 roads which include the rehabilitation of Lumumba Drive in Roysambu which is about a kilometer, construction of Access to Maji Mazuri in clay city Kasarani which is 1.2 kilometers, construction of Bishop Ireri Road in Kasarani which is a 1.1 kilometer stretch, about 0.8 kilometers of Kahuho Road was rehabilitated in Waithaka-Riruta, Dagoretti South as well as construction of Muthoira Road in Kabiro in Dagoretti North among many others.
