Former Chelsea keeper gives a hint of Hazard next move

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was between the sticks as his side beat Ajax 2-1 at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Wednesday night and the Belgian spoke about the possibility of Eden Hazard joining him at Los Blancos after the game. There have been a lot of rumours surrounding Hazard, who is at Chelsea, as Madrid may look to move for the playmaker in the summer.

“It would be good, but it’s his decision and of course I can’t say much about it,” Courtois told VTM Nieuws.

The 26-year-old has played with Hazard with both Belgium and Chelsea, and he thinks he would be a wonderful signing: “Eden is a great player and also my friend,” he added. “If he came here it would be good, but he must make his decision.”
Hazard has made it clear that his dream is to play for Los Blancos and the move is looking increasingly likely, particularly after he rejected a contract extension with Chelsea; his current deal ends on 30 June 2020. The plan for the 28-year-old is to finish the season with Chelsea and to then see where his future lies. He does not want to go to war with the Premier League side.

The Real Madrid goalkeeper defended the decision to overturn an Ajax goal on Wednesday. Thibaut Courtois said he believes the Video Assistant Referee made the right call in Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Ajax, fortunately for Real Madrid. With the score tied in the 38th minute, Nicolas Tagliafico appeared to fire Ajax into the lead by pushing home a rebound following a corner kick. The goal, however, was ruled out by VAR as it was determined that Dusan Tadic had interfered with Courtois from an offside position. Many found the call to be a controversial one, but Courtois insists the decision was the correct one.
