Robert Shibutse a respected financial management guru was heading the finance functions in the Board.

Before the seven rendered their resignations, there had been emergency night meetings which were intended to iron out the pending issues that were causing squabbles among the board members.

The board members also blamed the management of the institution of illegal HR and procurement practices and had asked the superior general for the Hospital Board to accept liability of the monies withdrawn and illegally spent from Prime Bank and GT Bank.

However, the Superior General vehemently refused causing some of the members to walk out.

This has come to light the same time The University of Eastern Africa Baraton has admitted closure of many of its branches in Kenya as well as massive sacking that involves letting go of 300 staff due to austerity.

“Because of mismanagement in the past, Baraton University, which was the first private university to be given a charter in 1991 by retired President Daniel Moi, suffered greatly,” Prof Philip Maiyo said.

What do you think needs to be done over the dangerous mismangement of funds by big institutions.
