Chelsea Star Eden Hazard Reveals One Reason He Prefers Maurizio Sarri Over Jose Mourinho

Chelsea news
Hazard has played a key role under Sarri this season where he has bagged 15 goals and assisted 10 others.

However, the Italian manager has been the subject of criticism in recent weeks due to his struggling style of football and poor results at the club, including Sunday’s 6-0 loss to Manchester City.

Sarri’s decision to play key players out of position is also questionable at times, with the criticism intensified when the Blues lose matches.

N’Golo Kante is often utilised in a more attacking role, while Hazard himself has been deployed in the unfamiliar false No. 9 position.

This has contributed to Chelsea‘s recent run of poor results, including a recent humiliating 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth as well as the loss to City.

However, despite Sarri’s struggles at the club so far, Hazard appears to back his manager’s philosophy even in the current times of uncertainty.

When asked to compare his previous managers, Hazard told Chelsea’s club website: “From when I started with Claude Puel at Lille, to now with Maurizio Sarri. They all see football in different ways which is why I’m the player I am.

“They have all given me important advice. Jose Mourinho was special, but the way Sarri and [Rudi] Garcia like to play is more like my philosophy of football, but they’ve all given me a lot.”

Mourinho is known for his more pragmatic, defensive-minded football which often restricted Hazard‘s freedom at Chelsea.

However, under Sarri as well as Garcia, the Belgian has been allowed the licence to roam and play his natural game.

Hazard spent four years under the guidance of Garcia at Lille before eventually switching to Chelsea in 2012.

Hazard does also appear to be benefitting from Chelsea‘s latest loan signing of striker Gonzalo Higuain, allowing him to take up his more common position out wide in the team.
