Uhuru goes to “bed” with Oparanya and netizens can’t hold their horses

What did Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya give to President Uhuru Kenyatta? All over a sudden The President has come to issue punitive remarks on the striking nurses which most Kenyans have termed it as being hypocritical.

But i thought the Medicine of debt is to pay. How comes the government is turning a deaf ear to nurses cries even  though they signed the agreement? Was it just empty promises?

President Uhuru Kenyatta has ordered all nurses to report to work by February 15 or face dismissal by the county government and the Health ministry.

Last week, the court suspended the nurses’ strike for 60 days. This was after the Council of Governors sought an injunction to enable both parties to negotiate.

But some nurses have refused to honour the directive from the courts saying they have to be heard by their employer.

“Any nurse who fails to report to work will be dismissed by the county and the ministry of health. The government will be at liberty to take any action as they deem appropriate,” Uhuru said.

Speaking when he addressed the nation on Wednesday, Uhuru said Kenya has a clear development agenda and an investment destination, and they cannot allow unlawful industrial action to derail us from taking forward Kenya forward.

“As the Commander-in-Chief, I have instructed the National Police Service to take stern action against picketers who might harass public service for going to work,” he said.

This directive has raised a lot of eyebrows. Most citizens who are on social media have boldly condemned this directive. It is direct mistreatment of the nurses without looking into their demands.

But is it even right according to the constitution of Kenya for the President to make such a call?
