Two More Weeks Behind Bars for Mary Wambui’s Murder Suspects

Slain Mary Wambui

Three suspects associated with the murder of Mary Wambui Kamangara will spend 14 more days in detentions to allow police complete investigations.

The accused include; Joseph Kori Karue; husband of the deceased, his mistress Judy Wangui Mungai and Michael Githae Mathenge, a car-hire services operator.

These three were arraigned at the Kiambu Law Courts on Wednesday but did not take  plea after police sought more time to detain them.

Kiambu Senior Principal Magistrate Stella Atambo directed the accused be detained at Muthaiga Police Station.
The case will be mentioned on February 27, 2019.
Mary Wambui was killed on January 26, 2019, at an apartment in Fourways Junction on Kiambu Road, where Judy

Wangui lives in a suspected love triangle gone sour.
On January 29, Mr. Kori and his mistress were arraigned in a Kiambu court but did not take plea, after police were allowed to hold them for 14 days pending investigations.

While her husband was initially accused of colluding with Judy Wangui in the murder, police say subsequent investigations involving analysis of call records and witness statements suggest that he was not at the crime scene.

Mr. Mathenge, the car-hire services operator, is alleged to have aided Wangui in ferrying Wambui’s body from the murder scene to a ditch in Juja area.
