Tottenham vs Borussia: Match facts for the “bruising” encounter

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has hope that they can pull a positive result against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley tonight.

The German side will be visiting Wembley in what will be the third meeting between the sides and Vertonghen, who could see himself deployed at right-back, says that the team can beat anyone.

Ben Davies and Danny Rose are injured and the latter will need assessment before the kick-off to ascertain his match fitness. Some facts may tip the visitors to record a positive result though; Dortmund have never failed to score against Tottenham in European competition, Dortmund have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League for the fifth time in their last six campaigns.

“We can beat anyone. We have shown that last year. Over two games we were the better team against Real Madrid who were the eventual winners of the trophy. That is why it was a shame we could not do better last year because we felt we should have done better. That is why everyone has the feeling we can do it this year.” Rose told Sky Sports.
