Sarit center deny circulating security alert

Sarit Center, on Wed confirmed that there is no warning of a possible attack at the premises according to security alert message making rounds on WhatsApp .

The Complex said that the circulating messages were mere rumours and city shoppers are welcome to shop.

Posting on their official twitter account,  the complex located in Westlands, Nairobi, dismissed the alert that there was heavy police presence around the area hence people should avoid it.

The post went on to state that no official communication from the government has been received concerning any security alert The Center also noted that the posts were meant to spread fear and that Kenyans should treat the allegations as rumours.

“Our attention has been drawn to a series of WhatsApp messages in circulation regarding an increased police presence around The Sarit Centre attributed to a heightened security alert. We would like to assure all our shoppers & the public at large that these messages are merely gossip & should be treated as such”, the post read.

“We have not received any specific alert from the authorities regarding a heightened state of security at The Sarit Centre, & we continue to work closely with them to do our level best to provide our shoppers with a safe & comfortable shopping environment”.

“We urge the public to refrain from sharing and forwarding any unverified messages whose only aim to spread needless fear and panic, and we assure all our shoppers that the Centre is indeed open for normal business”, also added.

Kenya has had a series of security alerts and travel advisories being issued due to the attacks that have been hurled at the nation. The most recent attack was along 14 RiversideDrive, Dusit Complex that claimed 21 lives on January 15, 2019.
