The death of Mary Kori came as a shock not only to her family but to the entire country with his husband and his lover been the masterminds behind her painful death.
The two has since been arrested and facing charges in court.
During the court hearing Wambui’s husband and businessman Joseph Kori burst into tears after his lawyers pleaded with the court for his release so that he could reconnect with his children.
His lawyer further pleaded that businessman should be released based on the exonerating evidence that the police had received in the course of the investigation.
The lawyer went on to highlight the pain of Kori’s children, whose mother was murdered and their father arrested shortly after. At the mention of the children, Kori burst out in tears and quietly held his face using a white handkerchief.
“There are no grounds for holding our client for a further 14 days. I wish to highlight the family issues. His kids are out of school and haven’t seen their father for the last 16 days. He needs to be released,” the businessman’s lawyer submitted.
Kori was presented in court alongside his alleged mistress Judy Wangui and a taxi driver, Michael Githae.
Wambui’s family has said they would delay the burial of their daughter until her husband is released from state custody so that he can bury her in line with Kikuyu customary rites.
