Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki is in mourning following the passing of his mother, Mama Jennifer Cianjagi Njuki.
Jennifer Cianjagi Njuki was a nursery school teacher and a businesswoman who was described as a strong woman of Christian faith.
However, not immediately clear what caused her death.
Taking to their social media account, his fellow lawmaker condone with him and his family.
Meru County Governor Kiraitu Murungi expressed his condolences to Njuki and his family for their loss.
The governor received condeloence messages from among his counterparts, among them Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru.
“My deepest condolences to my colleague, Governor, Tharaka Nithi, H.E. Muthomi Njuki , on the passing away of your dear mum.
“My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May the Lord comfort and strengthen you during this trying time,” Governor Waiguru tweeted.

The governor has been having a tumultuous time in office as some of women in his county protested alleged insults earlier in the week.
The women marched to his office and dumped underwear demanding an apology over his utterances.
The county assembly also impeached Muthomi’s deputy, Susan Ngugi
