Fear as Three Planes involving one company crash within one year

Malindi crash

As news continue to trickle in about the Londiani Plane crash that killed all the 5 passengers on board, Kenyans have been left with more questions than answers.

On Wednesday, police confirmed that the Cessna 206-5-Y BSE plane had crashed at Makutano forest killing four foreigners and one local. The plane was ferrying tourists from the Mara game reserve to Lodwar town in Turkana County.

But this is not the first plane crash involving a Cessna aircraft. In fact their have been two other crashes in a span of less than one year.

In July last year, a Cessna C208 crashed in the Aberdares killing all 10 passengers on board. The plane which was operated by Fly Sax, was enroute from Kitale to Nairobi when it crashed. Non of the two pilots and the eight passengers survived.

KCAA said the accident was caused by bad weather.

Another air craft crashed in November last year injuring one person. The Cessna 152 crashed as it left Malindi airport. It is believed the plane failed to climb high enough during take-off and therefore crashed.

Locals managed to save the one passenger on board. The three crashes have raised questions on the quality of the Cessna planes. These models have been in production since 1964 and it is not clear how old the planes that crashed are.

It could be that these planes should have been disposed long time ago.
