Some too bold criminals landed on their faces after attempting to rob police officers their guns in Shauri Moyo,Kamkunji constituency.
One of the attackers in a six man gang grabbed a female officer’s firearm, an AK 47 and wrestled her down with a view to rob her of the firearm.
“She fired three bullets injuring one of them, identified as David Mutunga (22), on the right side of the chest with the bullet exiting at the upper right arm,” the statement added.
However, her male colleague came to rescue and managed to arrest two attackers identified as Obed Mwai Wanjiru (17) and David Ochieng Onyango (24).
Mutunga was booked at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) in a critical condition where he is reportedly undergoing treatment.
In the ensuing fracas, the female officer also sustained injuries on her neck, chest and bruises on her arms.
“She was rushed to nearby clinic where she is undergoing treatment and is in stable condition,” the statement concluded.
Police officers in the area launched a manhunt in pursuit of the other three gang members who escaped during the melee.
