What is happening in Kiambu? It seems loving someone in this county should be classified as one of the 100 ways to your grave. Detectives have not yet to solve the heinous murder of Mary Wambui, and we already have another case on our hands.

This time a woman and her lover are suspected to have killed the husband in Gatundu. The body of Samuel Karanja, a Kiambu County employee was found about 10m away from his house on Monday.

Karanja’s wife Lucy Nyaguthii had reported the husband missing at Gatundu Police Station. According to the wife, Karanja came home at about 9pm on Sunday but went out saying “he was going to pay a debt.” “After sometime, he returned accompanied by Paul Maina. They started fighting and went out together,” Nyaguthii said.

But investigations have since revealed that Paul Maina and Nyaguthii were in fact lovers who had cohabited after she briefly separated from her husband of nine years.

Police found blood stains on the bed used by the couple and also discovered Karanja’s clothes inside a toilet. Nyaguthii insisted the murder did not take place in their compound but police found burned items in a suspected cover up bid.

It is for this reasons that detectives have arrested the wife as investigations continue.
