IEBC has today launched the Post-Election Evaluation Report at the Kenya International Convention Center in the efforts of providing solution to the existing gaps within they system.
This launch was based on the theme , Moving Kenya toward a stronger democracy and the event brought together top officials.
The IEBC Commissioner, Prof. Abdi Guliye was present and the kicked off the event by him welcoming participants and officially opening the event.
It was noted that IEBC encountered sustained amendments and judicial interventions on the enacted and reviewed laws, which had an impact on the effective management of the elections as it resulted in several reviews of election operations and timelines
IEBC was allocated Kshs. 53.5b for the 2017 GE and FPE. This was higher compared to 2013 when IEBC was allocated Kshs. 24.3b and due to increase in number of polling stations from 31,981 to 40,883 and development of technology.
In its election observation report ELOG had recommended the need to build trust in the electoral process by addressing the environmental issues around the elections.
The efforts by IEBC will go a long way in ensuring that they bridge the gaps in the system and ensure that their delivery meets up the expectations of the people as well as the objectives of the commision.
