This Is Why Anthony Martial Can Be The Next Cristiano Ronaldo

Martial has been in fine form this season, scoring 11 goals and picking up two assists for Manchester United.

The France international was on the scoresheet again on Saturday afternoon in the Red Devils’ 3-0 win over Fulham, scoring the second goal of the game after going on a mazy run.

Martial’s latest strike took his United tally to 47 goals, which he’s scored in 163 appearances.

The former Monaco man – who joined United in the summer of 2015 – is just three goals shy of Cristiano Ronaldo’s total return in his first four seasons at Old Trafford.

Martial’s strike against Fulham bared a stark resemblance to Ronaldo’s famous goal at Craven Cottage in 2007, which handed United a vital three points during a heated title race with Chelsea.

Solskjaer had a front-row seat for both goals and sees similarities between the pair.

“Yes, it was towards the end of the game and we played a very poor game and Cristiano scored it,” Solskjaer said of Ronaldo’s historic last-gasp winner. “He [Martial] does have similarities, of course.

“If he wants to be at Cristiano’s level, Anthony knows what he has to do. It’s up to him. He has the talent.

“I am glad he is in my team. He has contributed to so many chances, so many goals.

“He is a Manchester United player. He excites the crowd. He excites the manager.

“He excites his team-mates. And he is a great character around the place.”

Martial and his Manchester United team-mates will be back in action on Tuesday night when they welcome French champions Paris Saint-Germain to Old Trafford.
