Joe Mucheru Succumbs to Pressure and Withdraws the Appointment of Obado’s Ally

Cabinet Secretary for Information and Technology, Joe Mucheru has withdrawn his earlier appointment of key suspect, Odoyo Kwega, in Obado’s graft charges.

Joe had earlier appointed Kwega as board member of Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.

In a gazette notice dated February 11, Joe Mucheru has indicated to have reversed the nomination to the board member of Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.

Mr Kwega was listed by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission as one of the key suspects used by Governor Obado to transfer sh 2 billion from the county treasury.

The KIMC is a semi-autonomous government agency that trains students in electronic and telecommunication engineering, film production, radio and television production, print and broadcast journalism, electronic and studio technology.

The nomination was to see Mr Kwega and six others serve for a period of three years, which ends on February 2022.

The other six include former Bonchari MP Zebedeo John Opore, Stella Onyiego, KBC chairman Edward Musebe, former newscaster Beatrice Marshall, former National Quality Control Laboratory  Board member Kagiri Kamatu and former Coordination Board member Dee Kivuva Mutisya.

Meanwhile, Activist Okiya Omtatah has filed a petition in high court in a bid to bar the state appointment of elective losers to parastatals.

He filed the petition on Monday claiming the appointment was not done on merit.
