Presidential ambitions…? No!! I will drum for Uhuru election: Kalonzo declares.

Politics, the center stage of all happenings in our mother nation. It makes people and pulls them down in an equal measure.

Yesterday, 8th Wiper party led by their leader, Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka convened for their ‘Komarock 2’ meeting where he consolidated his political stranglehold of Ukambani region, asserting his dominance and taking over leadership of the regional economic block championed by rebellious area governors who were ironically missing from the convention.

During a meeting of Kamba leaders in Machakos County, Kalonzo stated that the constitutional review process was unstoppable and called on leaders from other communities to support the president.

“Let’s come together with other communities and help our brother Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta. If he says after the new Constitution that he wants to proceed I will support him,” he declared.

The Wiper leader also addressed the issue of the winner-takes-it-all after elections and the ripple effect it had of balkanizing the nation.

According to him, there was a need to expand the Executive in order to make Kenya an all-inclusive state once and for all.

Kalonzo claimed that there was a general consensus and political will among opposition political parties to team up with President Uhuru to oversee the review exercise.

“I foresee a situation where Wiper Democratic Movement will go into coalition with Jubilee, ODM, ANC, Ford Kenya and form one indivisible political juggernaut that will produce the next Prime Minister under a new Constitution, ” he added.

Kajiado Central MP Memusi Kanchor on his part stated that the leader who will take over from President Uhuru would not come far from Kalonzo, Raila or other leaders in the National Super Alliance (NASA).

Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama was of the view that the constitution needed to be amended so as to create a Kenya where freedom was not for one person but for everyone.

At the same time, Kalonzo downplayed a brewing rebellion instigated by Governors Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni),  Alfred Mutua (Machakos) and Charity Ngilu (Kitui). But still he defended his track record which has been questioned by the three leaders.

“I am not a governor and I don’t aspire to be one. I’m not the type that blows their own trumpet. While everyone has a legitimate right to seek any office, they should do so within the rules of the game,” he said, and added that his status didn’t allow for disunity either in Ukambani or in other parts.

“This is a marathon race. It cannot be won by people who are out to discredit others. I didn’t have billions for county or CDF to develop the region. Who doesn’t know I launched projects while in government?” he added.
