Marking the 85th Mashemeji Derby, love is in the on Saturday, February 9, at the MISC Kasarani as the world prepares to celebrate Valentines Day.
As the biggest game in Kenyan football takes place between Gor Mahia FC and AFC Leopards SC , couples are expected to dress to kill in their favourite team colours and will be entered into a draw for the chance to win a memorable romantic night in Nairobi.
“Couples are requested to come dressed in their favourite club colours on the day, take photos at the green screen activation area.
“These photos will be entered into a draw where they will stand a chance to win one of the best Valentines packages on offer,” the brief from competition organisers highlighted.
After the draw, the winning couple will be awarded to a getaway that includes dinner, breakfast and lunch next Thursday (February 14) on Valentines Day.
“We hope this initiative will add to the festive mood that is the Mashemeji Derby. Couples are encouraged to come out for this event and other ground activities on the day,” Farid Kipirash said.
Champions Gor head to the match buoyed with a 1-0 win over Vihiga United FC at Bukhungu on Wednesday whilst wounded Leopards will be seeking victory after going down 1-2 against Mt. Kenya United FC in a midweek clash staged at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on the same day.
Gor, who have two games in hand are fourth in the standings with 19 points after six wins, one draw and three losses while Leopards are 15th with 10 after two victories, four draws and five losses.
