Kenyan politicians have become acustomed to petitions after elections so much that the Deputy President William Ruto has given advise over the issue.

Ruto has proposed a review of the constitution that would accommodate election losers in the running of the country.

The DP said every time Kenya holds an election, politicians only expect one outcome: to win.

“The real problem in our country is not the management of the election….if you go to an election only expecting to win, then you have a problem…because the options when you go to an election are you win or you don’t win,” he said in his address at Chatham House in London.

According to him, the country’s greatest challenge is that there are people who do not believe in democratic elections.

Over his presidential bid in 2022 attacks, he has partially after silence for along time addressed opponent David Murathe’s attacks on him.

In a question and answer session during the Chatham House lecture, Ruto, though trying to avoid the matter, spoke on doubts cast on his suitability to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.

One among those in the audience, a reporter of Financial Times, asked the DP to respond to the accusations but he stated, “I have not responded to Murathe in Kenya. I am not about to respond to him in Europe.”

Do you think should continue avoiding Murathe’s hits?
