Revealed- Interesting Facts about Robert Godec

Outgoing United States of America ambassador Robert Godec is a man known to many Kenyans due to his frontiline and intimate involvement in some of Kenya’s most intractable issues.
Keynote being the negotiation of political impasse after the two disputed presidential elections, and brokering the now famous handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga.

He has been actively at the centre of these intriguing occurrence in Kenya and he will surely miss and be missed by Kenyans.

Below are some of the interesting facts about him:

Robert Godec was nominated by President Obama in August, 2012 to be U.S. Ambassador to Kenya.

Prior to his coming to Kenya, Amb. Godec had also served in two other African countries.  He served as U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia From 2006 to 2009, and as an  Acting Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister Counselor for Economic Affairs at U.S. Embassy Pretoria, South Africa.

He attended the State Department’s Senior Seminar and received a Presidential Meritorious Service Award, a Distinguished Honor Award, and many other awards and commendations.

Ambassador Godec is an alumni of University of Virginia where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Foreign Affairs and further earned a master of arts degree in International Relations from Yale University .

He is married to Lori.
