Pochettino Issues Harry Kane Injury Update That Will Delight EVERY Fan

The striker was sidelined for at least a month after damaging ankle ligaments in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at Wembley.

With Heung-min Son about to depart for the Asia Cup, there were fears the double blow could derail Tottenham’s season.

It did to an extent, as Spurs crashed out of both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in the same week.

But now they’re back on track, pioneered by the return of Son and now Pochettino has given fans another reason to cheer.

Ahead of the clash with Leicester, the Argentine confirmed Harry Kane is working ahead of schedule and could return sooner than expected.

“He’s doing well, fantastic You know him well, we need to stop everyday because he wants to be ahead of his recovery,” he told press.

“He’s very optimists and his determination to play as soon as possible is unbelievable.

“He’s doing well, he’s nearly ready to play but we need to be realistic too and in between all the areas to take the best decision.

“I think he’s so close to come back. Not for Sunday or Wednesday, but we will see after.”

Kane is now in line to return for the trip to Burnley on February 23.

When asked if he’ll be involved for that fixture, Pochettino replied: “Maybe, maybe.”

The 25-year-old scored a hat-trick at Turf Moor last season and his return to action could spell bad news for Liverpool and Manchester City.

Spurs refuse to lie down in the title race and although they’ve never been in the box seat, they remain just five points adrift of both sides.

The north Londoners are set to enter a crunch period and if all goes to plan, Kane will return for a crucial run of fixtures.

He is destined to miss the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 clash with Borussia Dortmund but after Burnley they face Chelsea, Arsenal and then travel to Germany for the second leg.

Tottenham also have to visit Liverpool and City before the end of the season and these matches could hold the key to who is crowned champions.
