JKUAT students protest over first year killing

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology students, protested on Friday, February 8, over killing of a first year student girl in the University.

The beautiful soul is said to have been stabbed to death on Thursday night at around 7.00 pm at Seagull Hotel. However events that led to the incident still remain unclear.

Some took to social media to air their frustrations under the hashtag #stopkillingJkuatStudents.

Students went ahead complained that insecurity cases in Juja are on the rise, recalling just a week ago the institution was on fire that started at around 4 am. However, no casualties were reported.

“It is my Prayer that this is the Last life lost in JKUAT. CS Amina Mohammed needs to immediately Intervene and ensure that these students are protected. We are busy with Al-Shabaab and forget the student are vulnerable to the Local ‘terrorists,”  BRAVIN tweeted.

“Please,stop killing University students,Our mothers and fathers in the village are waiting for a degree , please don’t a corpse to them.It pains to hear how a dream of a young lady was ended last night . SECURITYYYYY!”  ,expressed another fellow on twitter.

The students had written to Juja OCPD Simon Thirikwa notifying him of the peaceful protest, cited increasing ‘unexpected killings’ in the area.

“This is to inform you that we will be having a peaceful demonstration in Juja JKUAT environs, on Friday 8th of February 2019 as from 9.00am,” read the memo in part.
