In a notice circulated to all students, JKUSA called on all students to assemble for a peaceful demonstration following the murder of a first year COHRED student.
‘’This is to inform all students that we will be having a peaceful demonstration in Juja Environs. Following series of killings, most recent having been on 7th Feb 2019 at Segal Hotel,” JKUSA officials noted.
According to reports, the first year student was walking with friends before the incident occurred at Seagull area near Highpoint at around 8 pm on February 7, 2019.
While on their way, robbers stopped them and asked for their cell phones and money. Her friends cooperated but she didn’t, forcing robbers to stab her at the neck area.
The COHRED student got a serious knife wound and was immediately rushed to JKUAT hospital.
Unfortunately, she died upon arrival due to excessive bleeding.
The murder of the student has elicited a serious reaction among Kenyans on twitter, with many condemning the act and asking the government to tighten the security in Juja area, which has of late seen the lives of many students lost.

Some have, however, blamed the students for choosing leaders who do not focus on their interest.

The incident comes barely a year after another student, Tim Sydney Aomba, who was murdered after alighting in Juja from Nairobi CBD.
The same year, 2018, there also occurred a mysterious death of a fourth-year student, Tabitha Kiita, who was murdered and her body dumped at Oasis hostels near gate C.
