Isiolo clerics respond to mosques as Al Shabaab radicalization hub

Muslim clerics in Isiolo county have refuted claims that a section of the mosques in the area are being used as radicalization hubs, where local youth undergo inappropriate teachings in preparation for subsequent recruitment into terror groups.

Through their umbrella body council of Imams, and clerics of Kenya Isiolo have criticized a section of the media for targeting them unfairly adding that non of their members have been radicalized.

Led By their Chairman Hassan Bonaya the clerics have accused the media of spreading misleading information. Instead they have said that their mosques are the safest places and that they take full responsibility of the mosques.

The leaders have urged the media to stop spreading propaganda instead if they have evidence they should present to the relevant authorities.

This comes after one of the Top Suspects involved in the Dusit attack found to be a resident of Isiolo and police launched a manhunt for other youths from the area who were also alleged to have joined the killer group Al Shabaab.
