The Deputy William president has been cut short in his United Kingdom tour where he landed in London previous day to advance bilateral trade,investment, tourism,education and cement existing coperation frame works and in addition to explore new opportunities ahead of Brexit.
The DP who was also expected to meet British government officials and address several public meetings.However it was reported that he had to make an abrupt about turn to save to be there for Kenya.
Ruto arrived in London on Thursday and was expected to meet Kenyans in the UK for a cocktail meeting but the plan was cancelled in the last minute.
The DP’s communication team indicated that the DP was forced to return to Kenya to ensure that he and his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta, were not out of the country at the same time.
David Mugonyi, the DP’s Communication Secretary told journalists , “He’s coming back…President leaves for Ethiopia Saturday morning so he can’t be away.”
The president is headed to Ethiopia for the 32nd Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government.
The cocktail had been scheduled by the Kenya High Commission for Friday at 6.30pm for approximately one and a half hours.
Persons that had signed up for the event were, however, notified that it was cancelled on Thursday. The message was sent through Eventbrite- event management and ticketing website.
