There is no any love that can be compared to that of a mother, or is there any? Well, an elderly mother’s cry led a Nairobi court to free her son who was charged with manslaughter.
The mother argued that her accused son Erick Oginga, 22, was her only remaining son after the other one died unintentionally at his (Oginga’s) hands and, imprisoning him would add to her agony.
Oginga is accused of man slaughtering his brother on December 24th 2018 over a missing wallet.According to police, Oginga woke up on the fateful morning of the offense and found that his wallet containing Sh650 was missing in their house.
Police stated that he tried looking for it in vain and so he woke up his late brother at around 11 am and asked him if he had seen it.It is alleged that the late responded that he had not seen it prompting an argument, then a fight between the two where the late was left heavily bleeding with injuries.
Afterwards, Oginga left and on his return found his brother still lying on the floor then he rushed him for treatment but he succumbed to the injuries.Oginga was arrested and when arraigned in court, their mother told the court to set him free saying he was her only remaining son.
She further stated that the accused was a young man set to further his studies thus jailing him would dim his and the family’s fortune.Oginga was released on the personal bond awaiting a probation’s social evaluation report which will guide the court on how to deal with the matter.
If he however, skips attending court awaiting the determination of his case, he will be liable to pay Sh200,000.
