Devolution has taken a different twist within the country. This comes at a time when Muranga Women Representative Sabina Chege left Kenyans reeling in anger and dissapointed. Sabina took to social media to highlight a temporary but necessary solution for residents of Kiawanduma village where she launched a wooden footbridge meant to aid residents, particularly school children, to cross a dangerous-looking river. According to mheshimiwa, school-going children had been forced to at times swim across the river to access schools during the rainy days.
At this time and age it is surprising that local governments still make shift bridges and they are launched by government representatives,an example of Sabina Chege. Kenyans, however, descended on her, urging her to do more for the community considering her capacity in government. Another similar bridge has been launched. This time, the bridge is somewhat advanced, it has a ‘Roof’.
The bridge is not even an issue, I mean, it woud be benefical to the commuity. The problem is the amount that the bridge cost. The total amounted to Ksh.4.5 Million shillings only. With the rise in Kenyan debt, does the local government of this region understand what 4.5 Million shillings would do to this country?
