PHOTOS: Margaret Kenyatta opens a world class Library at Brookhouse School

The First Lady officially opened a library and commissioned a scholarship programme at Brookhouse School, Runda Campus.

Top candidates in 2017 and 2018 KCPE Goldalyn Tanga and Olive Wachira were awarded the Margaret Kenyatta Scholarship for their secondary education in the school.

First Lady Margaret Kenyatta called on stakeholders in the education sector to broaden their scope in training to open up the minds of their students in tandem with the modern world.

According to the State House reports, She said young people need to be equipped with appropriate knowledge, skills and confidence.

The First Lady observed that youth require teachers who can help them explore their entrepreneurial imagination and creativity to chart their future successfully.

She also urged learning institutions to equip students with skills that enable them to compete with their global peers.

The First Lady noted that instilling a reading culture in students is an integral part of the learning process.

She said the newly inaugurated library at the school, named after her, would help to inspire that culture, as well as cultivate minds of curiosity among the students.

Margaret Kenyatta on her twitteraccount said it was an honour to award the two top performing students with the scholarships.
