Barcelona break silence on Coutinho’s EPL return links

Following Philippe Coutinho being linked with a move to Manchester United in the January transfer window, Barcelona club president Josep Maria Bartomeu has insisted that the Brazilian is not up for sale.

Coutinho joined Barcelona from Liverpool in last year’s January transfer window in what was a record buy for a LaLiga club which stands at £142 million. Coutinho has struggled to nail down a regular starting position at the club since his arrival with Ousmane Dembele preferred ahead of him on a number of occasions.

With Jordi Alba also linked with a move away from the Catalan club, Bartomeu insisted that the duo have a future at the club, “We expect a lot from Coutinho, we don’t want to sell him, he’s one of the good players we want to have. There is no risk of Jordi Alba leaving, when two love each other so much in the end they understand each other.”
